cultural arts grant program

Art and culture form the soul of a community. Supporting growth in the arts and the development of cultural tourism are key elements in our county's integrated economic development strategy. A vital and diverse cultural climate supports the growth of business and industry, jobs, income and tax revenues, and helps build a positive image for the region. Indeed, the restoration of Suffolk's historic and beautiful performing arts centers or theaters has served as the focal point for the economic revitalization of several downtown areas.

The Department of Economic Development and Workforce Housing and the Office of Film and Cultural Affairs are committed to these and other programs that preserve the cultural heritage and unique character of our county and its communities. Through the Cultural Arts Grant Program we provide material support to organizations that work to:

• Encourage cultural tourism.
• Increase the utilization of historic locations, county parks, museums and renovated theaters.
• Provide enhanced opportunities for professionals in the performing, literary, visual and media arts who live in Suffolk County.

Suffolk County, under the auspices of the Office of Cultural Affairs, offers two funding opportunities for non-profit arts organizations. Please refer to the administration manual for detailed information.
